The Business Inspirations Series: Ali Ghaidan

Ali Ghaidan is the CEO and Co-Founder of RMDM, a one-stop shop for cancer diagnostics, prevention and treatment.

RMDM use ground-breaking technology to provide partners with non-invasive, low cost and highly accurate early intervention diagnostic tools.

Their technology is currently commercially available in Holland and Germany with launch plans in discussion across the Middle East and North Africa, having recently expanded into the UK market.

Here, Ali Ghaidan talks about his business inspirations.

What was the inspiration behind your business?

“Through my own personal health and fitness journey, I worked with a nutritionist who really opened my eyes to understanding the human body and the effect the food we eat has on it.”

“During this transformational process I was introduced to Johannes Coy, a scientist who had developed food and beverage products using healthy sugars, with multiple positive effects including:

  • improving cognitive behaviour
  • preventing Alzheimer’s
  • reducing your risk of cancer”

“Once I met Johannes and learnt more about his work as a biochemist, he introduced me to his research, 20 years in the making, that had developed a blood test technology that could quickly and accurately detect cancers at all stages.”

“I felt so passionate about changing my own life and improving my own health, I was determined to work with Johannes and help millions of others do the same”

Who do you admire?

“Ever since I was young, I have always admired Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, a retired American basketball player, philosopher and author.”

“He was extremely successful as a professional athlete, the NBA’s all-time leading scorer, and has achieved so much in his life after retirement. This includes being awarded the Congressional medal of Honour and being appointed as a Cultural Ambassador to the United States.”

“He is hardworking, eloquent and intelligent, and above all humble which I find incredibly admirable.”

Looking back, what would have done differently?

“I would have started doing this work a lot sooner!”

Many of us take our health for granted – I know I did – and when I was told I was at risk of having a weak heart it woke me up completely.”

“Looking back now, I would have taken my health a lot more seriously and started working right away to help others improve their own health.”

What defines your way of doing business?

“Passion and efficiency.”

“I am incredibly passionate about what I do and, as an entrepreneur, if I’m not passionate I’m not interested.”

“I am a strategic thinker, so I also like to be as efficient as possible to drive my business forward.”

What advice would you give to someone starting out?

“The most important thing is to understand exactly what it is you want to do, and clearly define the steps you need to take, in order to get there.”

“Always consider the overall benefit to your business when making decisions, and criticise yourself before criticising others”

“Starting a business can feel like starting a family so ensure that you surround yourself with people you trust.”

“Sleepless nights can be part of the package of being an entrepreneur but keep pushing and stay focused!”
